Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga offers a compassionate and supportive approach to yoga that honors each individual's unique journey toward healing and well-being. Each practice is designed with the understanding that trauma can deeply affect the body, mind, and spirit, and our goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where you can explore and reclaim your sense of self.

What is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga?

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is an approach specifically tailored to address the needs of individuals who have experienced trauma. Unlike traditional yoga practices, which might emphasize performance or achievement, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga focuses on creating a space where you can connect with your body in a gentle, empowering way. It emphasizes self-awareness, self-regulation, and the importance of choice and control in every movement.

Our Philosophy

We believe in a holistic approach to healing that recognizes the profound impact trauma can have on your physical and emotional well-being. Sessions are rooted in principles of respect, autonomy, and mindfulness. We understand that trauma affects everyone differently, and our practice is designed to be flexible and adaptive to suit your individual needs.

Core Principles of Practice

1. Safety and Respect: Your safety is our top priority. We create a welcoming environment where you are respected and valued. Every aspect of our practice is designed to support you in feeling secure and at ease.

2. Choice and Empowerment: You are in control of your practice. We offer options and modifications for each pose, and you are encouraged to listen to your body and choose what feels right for you. There is no pressure to push beyond your comfort zone.

3. Mind-Body Connection: Our practice emphasizes reconnecting with your body and its sensations. We use gentle movements and breathwork to help you build a deeper awareness and foster a sense of calm and grounding.

4. Mindfulness and Presence: By focusing on the present moment, we help you develop mindfulness skills that can support emotional resilience and well-being. Our practices are designed to help you stay centered and grounded in the here and now.

5. Gentleness and Patience: Healing is a journey, and we approach each session with patience and compassion. Our practices are designed to be gentle, allowing you to progress at your own pace without judgment.
